January 2018 Update

I cannot believe it’s the new year! The fall semester flew by as I was busy teaching at UW-Milwaukee and in Chicago, and still performing regularly. I had the pleasure of performing a marimba concerto with the UWM Wind Ensemble in October and it was a lot of fun working with the students and Director John Climer. The picture above is my beautiful marimba on stage during the dress rehearsal. We performed one movement of the concerto again in November at the Milwaukee Music Festival, where I also taught a Masterclass to the high school participants.

Other highlights were traveling to Austin, Texas to perform Journey LIVE with Fifth House Ensemble again, and attending PASIC in Indianapolis. Austin was a great trip and it is always fun and inspirational to attend PASIC; hanging out with old friends and colleagues while seeing great performances and clinics. A usual busy slate of holiday gigs and end-of-semester activities went all the up to the holidays and the new year began with a week back in Phoenix visiting family. The new semester is already back in full swing, with another busy teaching load planned and a few performances being added to the schedule.
